Mary McRee Mitchell, age 67, of Alexander, passed away Monday, April 2, 2012. She was born May 9, 1944 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Mrs. Mitchell was a retired L.P.N. and a strong advocate for helping local nursing homes. She was a passionate Arkansas Razorback fan. Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Helene Blakley and her husband, Phillip Charles Mitchell.

She is survived by her son, Michael Atkinson and wife Chrissy of Alexander; daughter, Suson Wheeler and husband Lonny of Fayetteville; brother, Jim Blakley and wife June of Hot Springs; sister, Betty Waddoups and husband Keith of Whitehouse, Texas and four grandchildren, Derek Atkinson, Angela Atkinson, Sarah Wheeler and Ben Wheeler.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 5 at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 6 at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton with burial at Mt. Harmony Cemetery.
